Getting around the Wood

Sketchmap of the Wood

Walking routes are in white with solid or broken lines.

There is a small car park on Bar Lane, Barton under Needwood, which provides access to enter the southern end of the Wood. There is also public walking access from Barton Park housing estate across a field from Park Road (between house Nos. 84 & 86). There is also a stile opposite No. 2 Barton Gate, just before the Gas Distribution Station, which gives access into the eastern side of the Wood and all around the outer perimeter of the Wood.

Walk to the heart of the Wood

There are five pathways which all lead into the centre of the wood. The one from the south passes a lovely pond which has ducks and coots swimming around for most of the year and some beautiful water lilies flowering in the summer months.
